This Key Return Receipt is a simple written record confirming that a tenant has returned the keys to a property at the end of a tenancy.
Returning the keys is often the clearest evidence that the tenant no longer intends to return, and therefore that the tenancy has come to an end. Having a short written receipt can help avoid later disputes about occupation, rent liability, or access.
The receipt provides space to record:
- Tenant name(s)
- Property address
- Date the keys were returned
- Confirmation that all keys were handed back
- Landlord or agent signature
The document is intentionally brief and can be completed in minutes. It may be printed and signed at the handover, or completed immediately afterwards and retained with the tenancy records.
