Rob Dix has just put out the second edition of How To Be A Landlord, on Amazon. It’s been updated to cover the Renters' Rights Act. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet, as it's brand new, but we're familiar with and respect the author, so I thought it was worth noting.
This book is about the practical side of running a rental property, not general property investment. That’s what makes it useful, since landlord rules change fast and advice can get outdated.
The previous edition came out in 2017, and while it was updated for 2025, this new version is clearly a proper second edition. That’s important because laws around possession, paperwork, and best practice shift a lot. This edition is aimed squarely at the post-Renters' Rights Act world.
Rob Dix co-founded Property Hub and has been involved in property writing and podcasting for years. The first edition found a good audience, with plenty of reviews, and a 2018 review from Your Property Network called it a solid, practical guide.
Right now, the Kindle edition is just 99p, and paperbacks start at about £7.86. If you rely on landlord books as references, this one’s worth noting—not to replace legal advice, but as an updated guide from someone who knows the field while the rules are still settling.
